Ireland July 2009

The Irish set dancing at the 2009 Willie Clancy 37th Summer School at Miltown Malbay was great, workshops 10am till 1pm every morning. Ceilis each night, hundreds of dancers at the Amada Hotel, hundreds more in the Summer School Marquee, and a third, smaller Ceili going at the Quilty Tavern (our favourite). Daly’s Bar a short walk from our Clonmore Lodge B&B for a wee small hours Guinness before retiring. The Willie Clancy Summer School is full on for the week, morning afternoon and night until 1am, but we took most afternoons off to go sightseeing.

The mid-summer weather was very Irish, mist, sun, rain, howling wind and rain from the Atlantic all in one day. Ireland is a magical place.
