31 pics. Viviers in southern France, a small walled city situated on the banks of the Rhône. Viviers Castle, and an organ recital at St Vincent Cathedral Viviers. Travelling down the Rhône river and its ten locks. Avignon and its bridge (“Sur le pont d’Avignon”), Avignon Castle, and the Popes’ Palace. The Avignon Theatre Festival in full swing. Music everywhere, buskers on the metro and in the streets, a glimpse of a three week musical fair in Avignon with performers everywhere. On the river we had the on-board musician and visiting performers, as well as a fellow passenger Daryl from Cooma who played a little old-time dance music for us on the grand piano. The fireworks on the bridge of Avignon were postponed from the week before because of the weather. We had perfect weather and a front-row view of our second set of Bastille Day fireworks.
