. Some old Kodachrome slides. We flew from Canberra to Cairns. There was an airline strike on but we eventually made it. We hired a motor home. It seemed enormous to us at the time but now appears modest. We took a bus up to Kuranda and then the train back to Cairns. Met some friends up there and drove to Cooktown in the “Jolly Green Giant”, in convoy with Bob Parkinson and Narelle Hohnke from Lance’s ANU Pure Maths tutor group. Called into the 1875 Lion’s Den Hotel in Helenvale. Quite a landmark in a remote location. Traded the motorhome in for a mini-moke for our last day.
